Madeleine Adams
Co-director of Research Design
Research Design is an architecture and design practice established in 2003 and is based in the Grade 1 Listed Boone’s Chapel in Lewisham, London, which the practice restored in 2008. Projects completed to date include the Rockhouse (a contemporary private house projecting over the atlantic coast of Maine, USA), and the refurbishment of the Art Gene Gallery in Barrow-in Furness. As well as buildings, the practice’s work includes landscape and urbanism, graphics and exhibition design, and projects ranging in scale from masterplanning development sites, to the research and design of interpretation panels for public spaces.
Madeleine studied at the the University of Manchester and the Architectural Association. She has been involved in teaching in since 2002, at the Universities of Cambridge, the West of England, East London, and University College London. She contributed to the recent book edited by Dr Barbara Simms, entitled Eric Lyons and Span, published by RIBA Publishing in 2006. She writes and lectures on european housing and urbanism.
