DS Carl Whitley-Jones is a Metropolitan Police Officer currently on secondment to the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) Crowded Places Desk.
The team have the lead role in the counter terrorism protection of crowded places including stadiums, shopping centres, visitor attractions and licensed premises.
DS Whitley-Jones has worked closely with the Home Office and on the Lord West review to develop new and innovative ways of delivering advice to the various business sectors including planning authorities and architects.
He provides guidance in relation to business continuity, designing out vehicle borne terrorism, the protection of crowded places and reducing opportunities for terrorism through environmental design.
His community based policing includes work as a Crime Prevention Officer and later as a Crime Prevention Design Advisor. He also has extensive policing experience as a firearm officer, protection officer and tactical advisor.
As a security advisor he managed a team of officers responsible for giving detailed counter terrorism advice to the diplomatic community and other at risk people and premises throughout the UK.
