Tarek Merlin

Feix & Merlin

TR1 TR2

Tarek graduated from the Bartlett in 2000, and originally worked at Foster & Partners before joining Will Alsop’s studio in 2001. He now runs his own practice Feix&Merlin Architects, which he co-founded with Julia Feix in 2006.

His major project with Will was the Blizard building for Queen Mary University in Whitechapel, East London, and he subsequently worked on Palestra, Alsop’s office building in Southwark.

The first completed Feix&Merlin project is their competition winning Beach Hut design, now happily ensconced on the Lincolnshire coast, completed 2007. Since then they have been invited to work on two projects with Urban Splash; a marketing suite for the Walsall Waterfront development site, and site offices made from re-used shipping containers. They are also working on a large private residential refurbishment project involving a new build garden outhouse-building, as well as several other mixed use projects.

Tarek is also a freelance writer and featured contributor to Building magazine, and has been a guest critic and lecturer at the Architectural Association, Oxford Brookes University, the RCA and the RIBA.
