Abstract:
The talk explored the relationship between transport and cities, first noting the historical co-evolution of transport modes and different kinds of urban form, and then considering possible future paths. The focus is on exploring future urban environments and adaptive processes that would support to the introduction of new ‘green’ transport modes – and greater use of traditional ‘green’ modes such as walking and cycling – towards a more environmentally sustainable, less energy-intensive city of the future.
