Abstract

Beyond the red line – can developers, investors, project promoters and planners work together to interlock change?

The climate change challenges of the future are increasing well recognised, with threats to our built environment better understood than ever before, but is our collective approach greater than the sum of the parts? Today’s infrastructure is not being used and developed in a way that encourages the flexibility the future demands, so what are the key issues, how are they best managed and who holds the long term vision for meeting the demands on future green infrastructure. For property investors and developers in an uncertain economic context, planning for next year comes second to managing financial challenges today, the public sector needs to play an integrating role in meeting the need for green infrastructure beyond the boundaries of individual sites, and across cityscapes and regions.
